Our Story
niloGLOW was born from a deep respect for heritage, women and the extraordinary power of Nilotica shea.
Our story begins in the Acholi region of Northern Uganda, a land within the Nile Basin, where Nilotica shea trees have grown wild for generations. For centuries, Acholi women have harvested and transformed the shea fruit by hand, passing down their knowledge as a source of nourishment, protection and beauty.
What began as a personal search for true hydration soon evolved into something more meaningful — a commitment to share this rare ingredient with the world, while honouring the people, culture and traditions that have preserved it.

The Rarest Form of Shea
At the heart of niloGLOW is Nilotica shea butter — a rare and exceptional variety native to the Nile Basin. Naturally softer and creamier than traditional shea, it melts effortlessly into the skin, delivering deep nourishment with a remarkably light touch.
Revered for generations for its restorative properties, Nilotica is often considered the most luxurious form of shea in the world.
OUR PEOPLE
Empowering Women, Preserving Heritage
We work with local communities in the Acholi region of Northern Uganda, where the knowledge of harvesting and transforming Nilotica shea has been passed down through generations.
Our Ugandan production partner is a certified small business operating under Eco Fair Trade guidelines. Wild-growing Nilotica shea nuts are purchased directly from local farmers at their own price rates, helping ensure that value remains within the communities from which this remarkable ingredient originates.
The naturally fallen nuts are sun-dried before being cold-pressed to extract the raw, unrefined Nilotica shea butter at the heart of niloGLOW.
Beyond sourcing, our partnership is rooted in giving back to the communities behind our shea. By supporting local farmers and community initiatives, we aim to contribute to sustainable livelihoods while helping preserve the knowledge, traditions and heritage surrounding Nilotica shea for generations to come.
